Cuba visa for Portuguese citizens
Planning a Cuba holiday with a Portuguese passport involves a small but important change from European travel: use the passport and complete the Cuban visa steps before departure. This guide concentrates on long Portuguese names, a trip sold through an agency and the distinction between the service’s USD price and a bank’s euro conversion.
Can Portuguese citizens apply for a Cuba eVisa?
Yes. Portuguese ordinary passport holders can use the online Cuba tourist eVisa application. Select Portugal, keep complete passport names and check whether the travel agency is already arranging a visa.
Check another passport nationalityPortuguese compound names in an English form
The English form separates surnames from given names. Copy the components from the matching passport fields, including connecting words where the document includes them. Do not move a family-name component to the given-name box to make the text shorter.
Before continuing, compare the full entry with the passport. If the airline ticket displays a shorter name, resolve any actual booking mismatch with the carrier instead of altering the visa information to imitate the display.
Check what a Portuguese agency is arranging
Ask whether the booking includes the Cuban visa, insurance or only flights and accommodation. Request the actual visa delivery instructions and keep them distinct from the package invoice.
For a journey booked in separate parts, list the documents needed for each transit point. A connecting airport outside Portugal can create an additional entry or transit requirement; the Cuban eVisa is not a substitute for that permission.
Budget the service in USD and prepare travel records
Our service is priced at US$59 per traveller. A euro account may show a converted amount set by the bank or payment provider; there is no fixed euro amount promised on this page.
Use an email you can access while away and save the confirmation before departure. Keep the issued visa code, completed arrival QR and insurance evidence together so the airline and arrival checks can be completed even without a reliable connection.
Example: an agency invoice uses initials for a long Portuguese name
Suppose the package invoice shows two initials followed by one surname, while the passport contains several given names and family-name components. Treat the invoice as the booking reference and the passport as the identity reference. Place the complete passport surnames in the surname box and the given names in their own box; shortening both to the invoice's display can make the application less accurate.
Before purchase, ask the agency two separate questions: whether it has already arranged a visa for this passenger, and whether the passenger name on the flight reservation satisfies the airline's requirements. The response to one question does not automatically resolve the other.
A Portuguese passport used by a traveller living abroad
A Portuguese citizen departing from Brazil, Switzerland or another residence country should select Portugal for an application using a Portuguese passport. Residence and the departure airport help define the itinerary, but neither replaces the passport nationality. Check return-to-residence documents and transit permissions on their own terms.
If the traveller also holds a second passport, decide which one will support the Cuban application before entering the number. Keep the chosen passport with the issued visa information for the journey. For a document change after submission, locate the existing application and ask about the correction rather than switching nationalities in a second purchase without reviewing the first record.
What to prepare for the online application
Use the Portuguese passport intended for this journey. The current form asks for the following details:
- Passport nationality and passport number.
- Surnames and given names as printed in the passport.
- Date of birth and sex.
- Email address, entered twice to confirm it.
- Phone number, if you choose to provide one.
No passport scan or portrait upload is requested in the current service form. Insurance, return or onward travel and the arrival declaration are separate travel preparations; they are not upload fields in this application.
Cuba eVisa cost and application steps
Our online application service costs US$59 per traveller. This is our independent service price, not a quoted government consular fee. Read the service terms and refund policy before paying. You can also consult the official government application directly.
- Enter your passport details. The application opens with Portugal selected. Review names, passport number, birth date and email.
- Review the application and service price. Confirm the information and displayed total before continuing to the payment stage.
- Monitor the application. Keep your reference and use the application status page for an existing request. Allow time before departure; no approval deadline is guaranteed.
- Prepare the separate arrival declaration. After receiving the issued visa code, follow the official D’Viajeros portal instructions and save the arrival QR.
The tourist route is generally for one entry and an initial stay of up to 90 days, subject to the issued visa and current Cuban rules. Work, study and special passport circumstances need their own advice. Cuban authorities decide approval and admission.
Start my Cuba eVisa applicationPortuguese passport questions, answered
Should a Portuguese compound surname be shortened on the form?
Use the surname as printed in the passport’s surname field. A shortened booking display is not a reason to remove passport name components.
Is the service’s US$59 a fixed euro price?
No. The service price is in US dollars. Your bank or payment provider determines any euro conversion and its own applicable charges.
Can a Portuguese resident with a foreign passport select Portugal?
Select the nationality of the passport used for travel. Portuguese residence does not change that passport’s nationality or its Cuba visa route.
How much does this Cuba eVisa service cost?
Our online application service costs US$59 per traveller. This is the price of our independent service, not a quoted government consular fee. Check the total and service terms before paying.
What information does the online application ask for?
The form asks for passport nationality, passport number, surnames, given names, date of birth, sex, email and repeat email. Phone is optional. The current form does not ask for a passport scan or portrait upload.
Is D’Viajeros the same as a Cuba eVisa?
No. The eVisa is the visa application; D’Viajeros is Cuba’s separate arrival declaration. After receiving the visa code, use the official D’Viajeros portal to complete the arrival formalities in its permitted time window and save the resulting QR code.
Is approval or a processing deadline guaranteed?
No. Apply before your journey and allow time for review or corrections. Payment does not guarantee approval or admission. The Cuban authorities decide the visa outcome and entry permission.
