Cuba visa for French citizens

For French passport holders, the useful way to organize a Cuba application is as a sequence: verify the passport, obtain the visa code, then complete the arrival declaration. Booking an onward US connection adds another entry-permission check. Keep those steps distinct so one confirmation email is not mistaken for the entire set of travel documents.

The quick answer

Can French citizens apply for a Cuba eVisa?

Yes. French ordinary passport holders can apply for a Cuba tourist eVisa. France Diplomatie lists a passport valid for at least six months after arrival, a return or onward ticket and the tourist visa.

French passport validity and name fields

France Diplomatie specifies at least six months of passport validity beyond arrival in Cuba. If renewal is needed, complete it before applying so the visa request uses the document you intend to carry.

The form has separate surname and given-name fields. Copy the passport labels rather than combining your nom and prénoms into one box. If a passport displays a usage name as well as the principal surname and you are unsure which entry to use, ask before submitting.

Prepare the D’Viajeros step after visa issuance

French official guidance describes online visa application followed by completion of D’Viajeros close to the trip. Use the live official portal’s permitted window rather than an old article’s timing instructions.

Download the arrival document while you still have a reliable connection and retain the visa email. If travelling with others, label each saved file by traveller so the wrong code is not shown at check-in.

A US connection can change your planning

France Diplomatie explains that Cuba travel from the United States, including transit itineraries, is subject to US restrictions. Confirm the applicable travel authorization before choosing that routing.

The French guidance also describes the effect of a Cuba visit on subsequent ESTA travel to the United States. Arrange the appropriate US entry permission in advance; the Cuba eVisa cannot resolve a problem with the connecting country’s rules.

Choose the name reference before opening the French application

A French passport may distinguish the family name and a name used in everyday life. Start with the name fields on the passport intended for travel, then compare the airline reservation with that document. If the labels leave you unsure which components belong in the surname field, clarify the issue before sending the request; an online account profile or bank-card name is not the application reference.

For a new passport issued after marriage or another name change, check the document actually being carried. An application prepared from an older passport can contain both an obsolete number and an obsolete name even when the booking email still looks familiar.

From application email to arrival QR: keep both stages identifiable

For a traveller leaving France, save the service application reference first so an existing request can be located without creating another. When the issued visa information arrives, use the official arrival portal for the separate declaration. Label the resulting files by traveller and document type; a payment receipt should not be mistaken for an issued visa or the arrival QR.

If the expected message is absent, check the receiving email, its spam folder and the application status before making a replacement purchase. For a family using the same mailbox, compare the names attached to every record. This is particularly useful when the adults share a surname but the children's given names and passport numbers differ.

Before you start

What to prepare for the online application

Use the French passport intended for this journey. The current form asks for the following details:

  • Passport nationality and passport number.
  • Surnames and given names as printed in the passport.
  • Date of birth and sex.
  • Email address, entered twice to confirm it.
  • Phone number, if you choose to provide one.

No passport scan or portrait upload is requested in the current service form. Insurance, return or onward travel and the arrival declaration are separate travel preparations; they are not upload fields in this application.

Cuba eVisa cost and application steps

Our online application service costs US$59 per traveller. This is our independent service price, not a quoted government consular fee. Read the service terms and refund policy before paying. You can also consult the official government application directly.

  1. Enter your passport details. The application opens with France selected. Review names, passport number, birth date and email.
  2. Review the application and service price. Confirm the information and displayed total before continuing to the payment stage.
  3. Monitor the application. Keep your reference and use the application status page for an existing request. Allow time before departure; no approval deadline is guaranteed.
  4. Prepare the separate arrival declaration. After receiving the issued visa code, follow the official D’Viajeros portal instructions and save the arrival QR.

The tourist route is generally for one entry and an initial stay of up to 90 days, subject to the issued visa and current Cuban rules. Work, study and special passport circumstances need their own advice. Cuban authorities decide approval and admission.

Can French citizens connect through the United States on the way to Cuba?

Check both US entry permission and the rules for travel to Cuba from the US. France’s official advice says the restrictions can also apply to a US transit itinerary.

Is approval or a processing deadline guaranteed?

No. Apply before your journey and allow time for review or corrections. Payment does not guarantee approval or admission. The Cuban authorities decide the visa outcome and entry permission.
