Netherlands passport guide

Cuba visa for Dutch citizens

Dutch visitors can arrange the Cuban tourist visa online, but passport validity and a combined US itinerary deserve attention before payment. NederlandWereldwijd also addresses children travelling with one parent and the effect of travel advice on insurance. Use that country-specific guidance alongside the visa application rather than relying on a generic holiday checklist.

The quick answer

Can Dutch citizens apply for a Cuba eVisa?

Yes. Dutch ordinary passport holders can apply for the Cuba eVisa. Dutch official advice requires a valid passport and says it should have at least six months of validity when leaving the country.

Dutch passport requirements and travelling with children

NederlandWereldwijd states that Dutch passport holders need a visa for Cuba and links the electronic application route. Check passport expiry against its published validity advice before arranging an application.

Children also need their own valid passport and visa. If a child travels with only one parent, review the Dutch guidance on additional consent documents. The child’s visa application does not establish consent from an absent parent.

Planning travel between Cuba and the United States

Dutch official guidance explains that travel from or through the United States to Cuba requires compliance with US conditions, even when the US stop is a transit. Verify that routing before you book.

The same advice says that Cuba travel affects subsequent ESTA travel and that a US visa should be arranged in advance for a combined itinerary. The Cuban eVisa is not a substitute for the required US permission.

Names, insurance and saved arrival documents

Enter the surname as it appears in the passport, including any prefix included in the surname field. Keep given names separate, and do not replace full names with initials used in another account.

The Dutch travel page notes that insurance conditions can change under orange or red advice. Check your policy for the current trip, then save the issued visa code, arrival QR and insurance evidence before departure.

A Dutch child's passport needs its own visa record

For a child travelling on a Dutch passport, prepare a separate application from the child's own document. The parent can receive the messages, but should check the child's given names, surname, date of birth and passport number before submission. A parent's issued visa should not be used as the child's application reference.

Consult the Dutch guidance for parental consent or other documents needed when a child travels with one adult or another companion. Those questions are separate from the Cuban passport-detail form. Keep any required consent evidence with the travel records, even though the current application does not provide a consent-document upload.

Dutch residence, dual passports and a return through the US

A resident of the Netherlands holding a foreign passport should select that passport's nationality rather than Netherlands. A Dutch citizen holding two passports should decide which document will be used for the Cuban application before entering the number. The application reference should be reviewed against that chosen passport if the itinerary or document later changes.

For a US connection or subsequent visit, consult the separate US permission guidance linked from the Dutch travel advice. Cuba's eVisa approval does not establish ESTA eligibility or US transit permission. Review the onward travel and any insurance restrictions before assuming the completed Cuban application settles every condition of the journey.

Before you start

What to prepare for the online application

Use the Dutch passport intended for this journey. The current form asks for the following details:

  • Passport nationality and passport number.
  • Surnames and given names as printed in the passport.
  • Date of birth and sex.
  • Email address, entered twice to confirm it.
  • Phone number, if you choose to provide one.

No passport scan or portrait upload is requested in the current service form. Insurance, return or onward travel and the arrival declaration are separate travel preparations; they are not upload fields in this application.

Cuba eVisa cost and application steps

Our online application service costs US$59 per traveller. This is our independent service price, not a quoted government consular fee. Read the service terms and refund policy before paying. You can also consult the official government application directly.

  1. Enter your passport details. The application opens with Netherlands selected. Review names, passport number, birth date and email.
  2. Review the application and service price. Confirm the information and displayed total before continuing to the payment stage.
  3. Monitor the application. Keep your reference and use the application status page for an existing request. Allow time before departure; no approval deadline is guaranteed.
  4. Prepare the separate arrival declaration. After receiving the issued visa code, follow the official D’Viajeros portal instructions and save the arrival QR.

The tourist route is generally for one entry and an initial stay of up to 90 days, subject to the issued visa and current Cuban rules. Work, study and special passport circumstances need their own advice. Cuban authorities decide approval and admission.

Dutch passport questions, answered

Do Dutch children need their own Cuban visa?

Dutch official travel guidance says children need a valid passport and visa. Prepare each child’s own application details and check any separate parental-consent requirements.

Is a US transit exempt from Cuba-related US travel rules?

NederlandWereldwijd says the US conditions also apply when only making a transit stop. Check both the travel authorization and US entry permission before booking.

Should Dutch surname prefixes be included in the eVisa?

Copy the surname from the passport’s surname field, including a prefix where it is printed as part of that field. Avoid replacing the full passport name with booking initials.

How much does this Cuba eVisa service cost?

Our online application service costs US$59 per traveller. This is the price of our independent service, not a quoted government consular fee. Check the total and service terms before paying.

What information does the online application ask for?

The form asks for passport nationality, passport number, surnames, given names, date of birth, sex, email and repeat email. Phone is optional. The current form does not ask for a passport scan or portrait upload.

Is D’Viajeros the same as a Cuba eVisa?

No. The eVisa is the visa application; D’Viajeros is Cuba’s separate arrival declaration. After receiving the visa code, use the official D’Viajeros portal to complete the arrival formalities in its permitted time window and save the resulting QR code.

Is approval or a processing deadline guaranteed?

No. Apply before your journey and allow time for review or corrections. Payment does not guarantee approval or admission. The Cuban authorities decide the visa outcome and entry permission.
