Canada passport guide

Cuba visa for Canadian citizens

Flying from Canada to Cuba? Start by checking your booking, not by buying another visa. Some holiday packages include a Cuban visa, while an independent journey or a connection through another country may leave you responsible for arranging it. This guide helps Canadian passport holders identify the right next step and avoid paying twice.

The quick answer

Can Canadian citizens apply for a Cuba eVisa?

Yes. Canadian ordinary passport holders are eligible for Cuba’s online tourist eVisa. Before applying, check whether your airline or holiday package already supplies the visa you need.

Check another passport nationality

Is a Cuba visa included in a Canadian holiday package?

Canada’s travel guidance says the tourist visa is generally included in holiday packages from tour operators or airlines operating direct flights. Check the actual terms of your reservation and obtain the visa instructions from the supplier; do not assume every ticket includes one.

For travel through a third country, the same guidance says to obtain the electronic visa in advance. If your supplier does not provide it, you can use our online application service with Canada already selected.

Canadian passport validity and dual nationality

The Canadian government says a regular Canadian passport must remain valid for the expected stay in Cuba. Your airline or connection country can impose stricter rules, so confirm the whole journey before departure rather than applying a generic passport rule.

Canadian-Cuban dual citizens and travellers born in Cuba should consult the Cuban authorities about their travel documents. The ordinary tourist eVisa guide should not be used to decide a Cuban citizen’s entry route.

Prepare insurance and an offline arrival file

Canadian provincial health coverage is not a substitute for suitable travel medical insurance. Obtain evidence that your policy covers treatment in Cuba and keep it with your travel documents.

Save the issued visa code, completed arrival declaration and return itinerary before reaching the airport. A shared family email can receive messages, but each traveller’s passport information needs its own application record.

A Canadian family booking: decide who still needs a visa

Imagine two adults and a child on one package reservation. Ask the operator to identify the visa provision for each passenger, rather than accepting a general statement that the package includes documents. Match each supplied code or instruction to that person's passport. If only one passenger's visa is missing, resolve that passenger's record; buying three new applications may duplicate the provision for the other two.

The same check matters when one member of the group joins from outside Canada. Their ticket may have different inclusions from the direct-flight package. Keep the passenger's departure itinerary and passport nationality separate when deciding whether our Canadian guide is the appropriate one.

Renewed your Canadian passport after booking?

The passport number used for a new application should come from the document you intend to carry. If you have renewed the passport since booking, review the operator's existing visa arrangements before entering the replacement number in another request. A ticket update and a visa update are separate tasks; confirmation of one does not establish that the other has been completed.

For an application already sent through this service, retain the reference and contact support about the changed document. For a visa supplied by the package operator, contact that issuer. Do not try to solve a passport change by submitting a second paid application without first identifying the record that needs attention.

Before you start

What to prepare for the online application

Use the Canadian passport intended for this journey. The current form asks for the following details:

  • Passport nationality and passport number.
  • Surnames and given names as printed in the passport.
  • Date of birth and sex.
  • Email address, entered twice to confirm it.
  • Phone number, if you choose to provide one.

No passport scan or portrait upload is requested in the current service form. Insurance, return or onward travel and the arrival declaration are separate travel preparations; they are not upload fields in this application.

Cuba eVisa cost and application steps

Our online application service costs US$59 per traveller. This is our independent service price, not a quoted government consular fee. Read the service terms and refund policy before paying. You can also consult the official government application directly.

  1. Enter your passport details. The application opens with Canada selected. Review names, passport number, birth date and email.
  2. Review the application and service price. Confirm the information and displayed total before continuing to the payment stage.
  3. Monitor the application. Keep your reference and use the application status page for an existing request. Allow time before departure; no approval deadline is guaranteed.
  4. Prepare the separate arrival declaration. After receiving the issued visa code, follow the official D’Viajeros portal instructions and save the arrival QR.

The tourist route is generally for one entry and an initial stay of up to 90 days, subject to the issued visa and current Cuban rules. Work, study and special passport circumstances need their own advice. Cuban authorities decide approval and admission.

Canadian passport questions, answered

Do Canadians need another eVisa if their tour operator provides one?

Usually there is no reason to purchase a duplicate. First ask the operator to confirm the issued visa, its delivery and whether it is valid for your passport and itinerary.

Can a Canadian permanent resident apply as Canadian?

Choose the nationality of the passport used for travel. Permanent residence in Canada does not turn a foreign passport into a Canadian passport; use the eligibility checker for that nationality.

Can Canadian children use a parent’s visa?

Prepare a separate application for each child travelling on their own passport. Check any parental consent or airline documentation separately from the Cuba visa application.

How much does this Cuba eVisa service cost?

Our online application service costs US$59 per traveller. This is the price of our independent service, not a quoted government consular fee. Check the total and service terms before paying.

What information does the online application ask for?

The form asks for passport nationality, passport number, surnames, given names, date of birth, sex, email and repeat email. Phone is optional. The current form does not ask for a passport scan or portrait upload.

Is D’Viajeros the same as a Cuba eVisa?

No. The eVisa is the visa application; D’Viajeros is Cuba’s separate arrival declaration. After receiving the visa code, use the official D’Viajeros portal to complete the arrival formalities in its permitted time window and save the resulting QR code.

Is approval or a processing deadline guaranteed?

No. Apply before your journey and allow time for review or corrections. Payment does not guarantee approval or admission. The Cuban authorities decide the visa outcome and entry permission.
